
Notice on Enhancing Security Control for Online Trading Security
For the purpose of maintaining online trading security, Rakuten Securities HK implements two-factor authentication (2FA) and clients are required to use 2FA for accessing Rakuten FX. Otherwise, clients will not be able to access our trading platform.
Clients can choose either OTP or Biometric for accessing Rakuten FX. For OTP, it will be sent by SMS.
【New!】To allow more flexibility and enhance traders’ experience, the option to receive OTP by “SMS and Voice Call” is now available. For details, please contact us.
*By choosing the option of “SMS and Voice Call”, clients will receive the OTP by both SMS and Voice Call at the same time. Therefore, even if any one of the delivery methods is unsuccessful, clients can rest assured to receive the OTP by the other method.
Friendly reminder: For better experience of forex investment, we recommend you to change your password every 90 days.

Two-factor authentication is a security process. It consists of two different components, including something you have known (e.g. username and password) and something you have (e.g. mobile phone), to certify user’s identity.
According to the new requirements introduced by the Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) on reducing cybersecurity risk associated with Internet trading issued on October 27, 2017, additional controls are required over internet trading, including the implementation of two-factor authentication (2FA). In compliance with the guidelines, starting April 27, 2018, it will be a mandatory requirement for licensed corporations to implement two-factor authentication mechanism for clients logging into their internet trading accounts.
Much more secure – Fraudsters cannot steal ‘something you have’ in your physical possession (such as a mobile phone) over the Internet.
Protection for high-risk transactions – All high-risk Internet banking transactions are protected by an additional authentication factor which is physically held by you only.

All clients, who log in to Rakuten FX trading platform, need to use a mobile phone to receive a one-time passcode (OTP) for login.
No. In order to protect clients’ interest, all clients must use two-factor authentication (2FA) to login.
The one-time passcode is time sensitive and can only be used once within a short space of time. It becomes invalid upon used or when time expired. Each single login will require one unique one-time passcode to complete its processing cycle.

Please login to your trading account with iSPEED FX. Then, in global navigation menu, choose “Settings”.
Tips: You need to combine your trading account with the logged in device and one trading account can be combined with one device only and vice versa. For the clients who have multiple trading accounts, such as HKD currency denominated account and USD currency denominated account, you are strongly advised to think carefully to choose the device to combine with trading account to avoid further inconvenience.

Choose “2FA Settings”.
*Please make sure to login to Rakuten FX with this device. Login status is required to show this menu for 2FA Settings.
Step 3

Tap on “SMS” to change your 2FA method.
Available option: “SMS” / “Biometric”
*If you would like to change your OTP delivery method to “SMS and Voice Call”, please contact our customer service hotline at (852) 2119 0116.

Choose “Biometric” as your new 2FA method.
Step 5

Read the important notes until the end and tap “Confirm”.

Combine your trading account with your device.

Biometric authentication is a security process that relies on the unique biological characteristics of an individual to verify the identity of a person. Examples of biometric authentication include fingerprint and facial recognition.
You can use another 2FA method, OTP, which is delivered via SMS. Please use this method for your login if your mobile phone does not allow to use Biometric authentication.
Default option of 2FA method is OTP so that you need to change the 2FA method to ‘Biometric’. For detail, please see the instructions in this page.
No. No matter you are using MARKETSPEED FX – Desktop, iSPEED FX – Mobile or Rakuten FX – Web, you can only change your 2FA method in iSPEED FX.
No matter you are using MARKETSPEED FX – Desktop, iSPEED FX – Mobile or Rakuten FX – Web, you must use your combined device for biometric authentication when logging in to your account.
Please choose either device for combining with your trading account. If you choose your mobile device to combine with your trading account, you need to use mobile device for logging to the other device (tablet) as well.
Technically yes. However, you will need to keep combining your device with every trading account when you login. (Because for security reasons, one trading account can be combined with one device only and vice versa)
For the clients who have multiple trading accounts, such as HKD currency denominated account and USD currency denominated account, you are strongly advised to think carefully to choose the trading account to combine with your device and suggest you to use OTP for other trading account to avoid further inconvenience. (Or you may use 2nd device for different trading account)
No. 2FA on old device combination will be disabled automatically once new device is combined with the trading account successfully.

- Login to your trading account with your old mobile *iSPEED FX is required.
- Change 2FA method to “SMS” at your old device and log out.
- Login to your trading account with your new mobile *iSPEED FX is required in your new mobile.
