Details on Opening an FX Trading Account

Please complete the Online Form to open a foreign exchange account and upload the following required documents during the application.
i. A Valid government-issued ID with photo
Such as an identity card or passport.
(If you are non-permanent resident of Hong Kong, please submit BOTH your identity card and valid passport.)
ii. Proof of bank account
A passbook or bank statement is essential for processing your deposit.
iii. A transfer of HK$10,000 of more
Make a transfer of HK$10,000 or more for the first deposit (must be transferred from a bank account in the client’s name maintained with a licensed bank in Hong Kong) and upload the fund transfer evidence.

Please (i) complete and sign the forex account application form, the questionnaire and the W8-BEN and (ii) make sure the following required documents are enclosed when mailing to Rakuten Securities HK’s office at Unit 501, 5/F, Nexxus Building, 41 Connaught Road Central, Hong Kong.

ii. Certified copy of a valid government-issued ID with photo
Such as an identity card or passport.
According to The Securities and Futures Ordinance, this means the photocopy of identity card or passport which is certified as a true copy by a reputable third party such as licensed solicitors, licensed accounts, bank managers and private or public notaries.

OR Personal check of HK$10,000 or more
  • Payable to “Rakuten Securities Hong Kong Limited”
  • Issued by a Hong Kong-licensed bank with your name printed on it
  • Signature on the check must match the signature on the account application.
  • Account will be activated only after the check is cleared.
  • No third-party deposit or cash deposit is accepted; neither receipt nor refund of such payments is guaranteed.
